Prince of Peace - Caring Ministries
Parish Nurse
The parish nurse is a registered professional nurse who is a member of the congregation’s ministerial team. The parish nurse promotes wellness by holistically addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the congregation. There are four roles used to enhance the quality of life for all members:
Educator: acts as a resource with current, accurate information on health and disease. A bulletin board is one way this information is publicized.
Counselor: brings the healing message of the church and assists the client member and their family to understand the process they are experiencing.
Referral agent: acts as a case manager, referring client members to appropriate community resources and organizations.
Advocate/facilitator: trains volunteers and develops support groups. Acts as an advocate to meet the needs of under-served members.
