Music enhances our worship and our Sanctuary Choir invites all interested singers to come and share this experience.   The Choir rehearses every Thursday evening at 7:00.  Rehearsals often involve sectional rehearsals to help with learning the music.  The Sanctuary Choir sings twice each month routinely and more frequently during festival weeks or during seasons of preparation such as Advent or Lent.   All ages are welcome, from teens to sages, and the capability to read music is not required.

Janet Hill is our gifted and talented Director and she is selecting our music and preparing us to support the Worship Service with our gift of music. Kent Hill is our choir accompanist.  The team of Janet and Kent provide us with high-caliber leadership and a great opportunity to grow in our support of Worship, our own musical capabilities and our service to God through the offering of music.

The Worship Team consists of several vocalists and instrumentalists who support worship through music.  This group alternates with the Choir for Sunday worship support  and presents music that is selected for appropriateness to the musicians and relevance to the service focus.  Music resources include the ELCA Worship and Praise Hymnal, music by Bread for the Journey and other contemporary composers.

The Worship Team is directed by Kent Hill.  This ensemble group includes vocalists and instrumentalists and welcomes additional persons to join us.   Worship Team rehearses on the second and fourth Saturday mornings of each month from 9:30 until 11:00.  Please contact Kent Hill if you would like to join the Team.

The Bell Choir provides musical selections to enhance our worship at various times during the year.  The Bell Choir welcomes participants from High School age and up to learn how to play the bells and chimes through training, to play as a substitute or to be a part of the regularly performing

group.   Mary Lou Askew is the Director for this Choir and she provides the training to allow this to be an enjoyable activity.

The Bell Choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 in the Sanctuary.  Please contact Mary Lou if you are interested in learning to play the bells or chimes and are interested in joining the Choir.
“On a Wing and a Prayer” is the name of our brass group at Prince of Peace.  The group is always looking for new members and is open to all ages.   The Brass Group rehearses on an ad hoc basis around times of musical offerings.   We enjoy their music on most festival occasions, such as Reformation Sunday or Easter.    If you are interested in putting your instrument and talents to work by joining this group, please contact either Don Berdahl or Kent Hill.

Most of our music support through choirs is scheduled around the 10:30 Worship experience.   We have need for other musical support from both vocal and instrumental musicians.   We encourage our community to offer their musical talents to God through serving as soloists at these times.   Opportunities for soloists include the 8:00 Worship Service, cantor opportunities at services and special music for special services.   We welcome ensembles as well for these musical service opportunities.   So if you don’t have time for routine rehearsals in your life, but you have the gift of music, we encourage you to share your gifts with our community through these soloist opportunities.    You can contact Kent Hill and discuss getting on the schedule for music solos to support and enhance our worship experience.    This is a wonderful and safe way for our young people to share their gifts as well.

SONAR is a way for children and families to become involved in the musical support of our worship services.   SONAR groups offer percussion instrumentation for our worship liturgy music at the 10:30 service.   Our children have been experiencing the joy of participation in worship through playing percussion instruments, such as drums, xylophones and hand instruments like tambourines and shakers.

SONAR creates the opportunity to do this as a family or ensemble unit.  This accompaniment is being added to our liturgical music support and is integrated right into the Worship service.  SONAR offers interesting music enhancement to the worshiping community and offers the opportunity to perform in a family or small unit format.   Scheduling will be based upon the number of SONAR groups that exist and rehearsals will be announced in relationship to times of support for each SONAR unit.  Janet Hill is the Director and can be contacted for more information.
