The prophet Micah tells us that all God really wants from his people is that they “do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God.”   Our core values reflect our interest at Prince of Peace in doing justice work, but it is often difficult to know just how to start or where to focus our efforts.

POP joined MOP
Council decided to join forces with other Christian churches in the community to do justice work through the Michigan Organizing Project (MOP).  Several members of our Prince of Peace family attend MOP trainings and meetings during the year.  Ray Isakson is our MOP Board Member from Prince of Peace.

WHAT IS MOP?

MOP is a network of ten congregations and a few organizations of the persons who are being served by MOP, such as the Kalamazoo Homeless Action Network (KHAN).  MOP operates on an annual cycle. Early in the year MOP provides training on how to have “house meetings.”   House meetings are then held and ideas of concern of injustice within the community are identified by those attending the meetings. We then participate in MOP through working on the project teams, by attending the assemblies during the year and supporting the work being pursued.
