At Prince of Peace we live out our mission and participate in the life of our ministries through giving opportunities.
We give thanks to God for the opportunity to support the mission work of the ELCA, including the Lutheran World Hunger and Lutheran World Relief programs. We support local ministries, such as Lutheran Campus Ministry right here in Kalamazoo at the colleges and university. These opportunities are realized through our annual stewardship drive by the commitment of our Prince of Peace family to return to God a portion of the blessings we have received.
Often we get energized around a new project, like joining the Michigan Organizing Project, purchasing enhancement for our organ or sanctuary. Since the budget is approved for the year, we create a giving opportunity to allow us to quickly fund the project and move forward. In this way we have flexibility and dexterity to move forward and capture the excitement as it arises in our midst.
Check out the Web Site to see what amazing work is accomplished with the interest from the funds provided as memorials or through estate giving.
Our Stewardship Theme for 2011 is "God's Daily Bread"

Our Stewardship Commitment Sunday is scheduled for October 23. We ask you to bring your pledges and commitments for support for 2012. Pledge cards will be mailed to your home.

On October 23rd, at noon, we will hold a Harvest Festival to share in God's bounty and abundance. We will share our celebration with Messiah Lutheran Church families from Constantine, as our partners in the Food Resources Bank project. We will provide pulled pork sandwiches and drinks. We ask you to sign up for a side dish or dessert, provided as pot-luck, to accompany our meat dish. There will be opportunity to participate in the Bounce House or Hayrides. The Pumpkin Patch will be open to visit and purchase your family's pumpkins. Join us to celebrate God's abundance in the Harvest Festival.

The purpose of the Extended Ministries Endowment Fund is to provide for ministries beyond the operational budget of this congregation. The Extended Ministries Endowment Committee serves as the custodian of the Fund. |
The committee encourages and welcomes gifts of any size, bequests, memorials, estates, and other assets to the fund. The principal of the Endowment Fund is retained and invested. Only the interest income generated from that investment is able to be spent to enable the further growth of the church and its extended ministries. The Endowment Committee annually submits letters to Council Liasons for each Ongoing Ministry Committee informing them of the disbursement monies available and the review process. The committee welcomes written requests with the following information:
Click here to bring up a convenient form that you can print and give to the Committee for review. The committee will review the requests and determine if monies will be dispersed, with the approval of Council. Click here for recent examples of projects funded by the Extended Ministries Fund. |
